Work

Hi, I’m Lani. I’ve been designing and building things on the web for over 15 years. I’m good at it. I’m also tired of beautiful, but broken, websites locking people out.

4 years ago I chose to make the move across to local government from the private sector because I wanted to work on projects that have tangible value to the communities around me. Every service that I connect with, and each site that I make for them teaches me more about the needs and struggles of the people we serve.

About this site

I chose to put this site together to give me a space to talk about my day-to-day experiences as a developer and user-centred designer in the context of actively learning about accessibility and inclusion.

Over the last two years my projects have become more and more about fixing accessibility issues, learning how to conduct audits properly, and working on bigger picture digital inclusion initiatives.

As my focus evolves so does my thinking, so let me take you on the journey with me and see what we can discover.

Please note: This site is still under construction. Working full time with a painful disability leaves little time for passion projects, so please bear with me as I build the architecture at a sustainable pace.
